satire

The Onion has a lot of satire within its stories.
-They have a picture of Shaq eating a pork sandwich during the game. They say he was doing good, but after he ate, he wasn't.
- The final season of Lost said it would make fans annoyed.
- worlds physicists complete study of physics
- how bad throwing away one bottle can be for the environment
-CSI performing at super bowl halftime

The Yellow Wallpaper

In the Yellow Wallpaper, the woman thought she saw things within the wall. She believed that there were people inside the wall. She was insane.
concrete details:
1. She hides her writing from her husband
2. husband doesn't want to believe she's sick
3. anxious
4. watched people
5. tries to catch the ghost in the walls
6. ignores her husband
7. determined
8. hated the wallpaper
9. losing her mind
10. stays in the room a lot

woman writers

When I read literature, I don't tend to base their writing styles on their sex, but now that i've thought about more I do see some differences. I think both women and men can choose the same topics, although one may understand another one better. If a book is about mostly about woman, I like to read it from a man, just to see their perspective on things. But for the most part, it doesn't matter to me.

dear Norman Mailer: kaycee and ebony

Dear Norman Mailer,

I feel as you you don’t have respect for woman. You feel superior to us lady’s, but in reality you have no idea. Maybe if you would have the balls to read my books, you would change your view on woman authors. So are you saying that you believe out of since children, if a daughter of yours wanted to pursue the dream of being an author, she would have to be a whore? I am not a heartless person, so I respect your opinions, I just strongly disagree. I may not be sane, but I have more sense then you. I feel that you should be open-minded, but who am I to change you.

Yours truly,

Virginia Wolfe

similarities

The similarities between Ethan Frome and The Story of an Hour is Ethan is in a happy place when wife is not with him, and Mrs. Mallard is happy when her husband is gone. Both of these stories are tragic tales.
